happy slugday!

Today was Slug Velo's fourth birthday ride.
The forecast had called for rain most of the last week, but the day was sunny and blessedly warmer -- highs in the mid 50's -- than the past three weeks have been.
The ride was one of the smoothest Slug Velo rides ever, with everyone having a good time and enjoying themselves.

Here are a few pictures:

Last year, Eleni did this ride in a trailer. This year, she's big enough to sit astride a trailer-bike:

Our coffee stop this year was at Anna Bananna's in downtown St. Johns. Here's Alan and Dale in front of the cafe:

Becky, Louie and Jeff (reflected):

Anna Bananna's was a gracious host, with hot, fresh coffee and an abundance of yummy treats. I recommend the turkey-avocado sandwich as very satisfying and delicious after several miles on a bike. (http://www.annabannanascoffee.com)

We took a picture of the group in front of the cafe and the owner (black shirt, long hair, in the middle next to me) joined us for the photo shoot.

After the group looped back to the start, several of us stayed to enjoy a final cup of coffee at Random Order (our start point). Then, still feeling some energy in my legs and not wanting to call it a day quite yet, I took a brisk little solo loop out through the Cully neighborhood, and came back towards the house on Lombard. The roads were fairly quiet -- today is Super Bowl Sunday and it's estimated that nearly a third of the entire country is watching it -- and the day was clear and bright. A beautiful day for riding!
